Purpose of Position
Function as a working AV systems technician for the purpose of operating, maintaining and servicing custom audio, video and control systems installed at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. In addition to performing routine start up and shut down procedures and ensuring the smooth technical operation of the system, this position will perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance procedures, troubleshoot problems and perform general repairs to equipment as required. This position is a hands-on position which will require the candidate to thoroughly understand audio, video and control technologies, have a core technician’s skill set to perform regular service and repairs of the system and assist in the commissioning and programming of the system as required and for new content.
Prior to opening the position will interface with the NASCAR Hall of Fame Exhibits Manager and external contractors including but not limited to the AV Integration, Interactive Developers, and Exhibition Designers as well as CRVA and City staff, to ensure that the Hall is securing an AV System that is reliable and sustainable. The position will participate in the installation and commissioning of the system.
Post opening, the position will interface with the A/V Technical Supervisor to insure a smooth daily operation of the AV system within the facility.
Responsible for supporting the operation, upkeep and upgrade of all audiovisual systems throughout the museum in addition to AV equipment set up as required for day to day operation event requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Understand and maintain all lighting, projectors, screens, monitors, computers, audio processors and amplifiers, loudspeakers and control systems, within the NHOF..
• Daily start-up, monitoring and shut down of exhibits and control room systems.
• Assist the Supervisor in maintaining the daily preventative maintenance journal.
• Perform weekly preventative maintenance audits and fine-tune systems as required.
• Be able to perform routine and emergency maintenance on all systems.
• Assist in maintaining the PC network on which most of the system is based
• Assist in routine preventative maintenance audits
• Set up and teardown of necessary AV equipment for all events as assigned.
Technical Operations
• Technical start up and shut down of the system
• Ensure smooth operation of media playback
• Coordinate with on-site technical staff and subcontractors as required
• Perform job paperwork such as daily or weekly reports.
• Generate, manage and maintain detailed technical logs and ensure that logs are accurate and up to date.
Preventative Maintenance, Service & Repairs
• Provide on-site first line emergency and preventative service to the NASCAR Hall of Fame
• Perform routine service and cleaning of system components
• Troubleshoot technical issues regarding operation, playback, and performance of all computer, video, audio and control hardware devices
• Change and clean filters on all projectors and amplifiers
• Perform regular alignment and color balancing of all projectors.
• Perform software updates as required for all computer, video, audio and control hardware devices
• Manage and maintain AV network as required
• Perform regular servicing of equipment and repairs as required. If repairs are beyond in-house capabilities, manage and coordinate repairs through outside contractors.
Media Upgrades
• Perform media upgrades as required. This will include uploading new audio and video files to AV players.
• Perform basic programming to accommodate for new media files.
• To communicate effectively with direct supervisor and other team members
• Business related travel to various industry and race events required – Distance & Local +/-5%
Standard Duties & Responsibilities

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Candidates without these minimum qualifications and experiences will not be considered.
• Associates Degree in A/V preferred
• One to Three years of professional servicing experience in the audio visual industry
• Hands-on installation experience and knowledge of audiovisual and control system
• Experience with audio DSP device programming.
• Experience with Peavey Nion Media Matrix and Medialon programming
• Attend training for certifications based upon the company needs.
• Experience in developing AV systems a plus
• Intermediate to Advanced skill level with Microsoft Office
• Proficient with internet technologies including network technologies both hardware and software
• Solid understanding of audiovisual and control technologies including but not limited to:
o Audio, video and control signal flow
o AV Networks
o Audio speakers and amplifiers
o Video projectors
o Control interface devices such as touch screens, KVM switches, etc..
o AV players such as multi-track audio players and MPEG-2 video players
o Medialon, Peavey Nion Media Matrix and Rhaon control hardware and software

• Solid understanding of MPEG-2 encoding for video content and .wav file formats for audio playback
• Ability to install and wire AV systems for general repairs and service

• Ability to supervise staff and sub-contract labor teams
• Must be able to multitask and have excellent organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to left 50 pounds
• Must be able to work at elevated heights
• May be required to work in a kneeling or stooping position for a prolonged period of time
