Checkers, CRVA to Host Free Public Skate at Bojangles' Coliseum

November 6, 2015

The Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) and Charlotte Checkers will host a free public skate at Bojangles’ Coliseum on Tuesday, Nov. 10 from 7 – 9 p.m. Open skates at the venue have been a long-time tradition over the course of its 60-year history and the return of the Checkers marks the comeback of public opportunities to hit the ice here.

The event is one of the first opportunities the Charlotte community will have to experience the enhancements of the $16 million renovation at the historic landmark, which include a new scoreboard, seats, lighting, sound system, locker rooms and refreshed concession areas.

A limited number of skates will be available for rental for $5 per person and those with their own skates will be able to skate free of charge. Concessions and merchandise will be available for purchase.

The Charlotte Checkers begin games at Bojangles’ Coliseum on Nov. 7. Season tickets are available by calling (704) 342-4423 or visiting
