CRVA launches ‘Pitch In. Take Out.’ to support local restaurants during COVID-19 crisis
CHARLOTTE, NC – (March 20, 2020) – As the first week of social distancing comes to a close, the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) has launched Pitch In. Take Out. on charlottesgotalot.com. The up-to-date, searchable database, which lists the Queen City establishments offering various takeout, allows residents to both support local business from the comforts of home and offers a welcome change of pace from the recent uptick in the need to cook at home.
With a constantly growing catalog of 150 restaurants across the region — from South End to Ballantyne and beyond — Pitch In. Take Out. was created with both consumers and businesses in mind. The tool’s most unique feature is its ‘Neighborhoods’ filter, which allows for hyper-local searchability, ensuring diners don’t have to look far to find the cuisine that they’re craving. Above all, Pitch In. Take Out. allows residents to continue supporting local businesses and their employees while practicing the aforementioned CDC-recommended social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19.
As the number one tourism destination in the Carolinas, and the proud home to more than 350 places to eat and drink, Charlotte’s booming food and beverage scene is one of its greatest attributes, and thus one of the greatest contributors to the region’s overall economic health and vitality. Leisure and hospitality businesses — like restaurants — are a primary driver of Charlotte’s visitor economy, supporting 1 in 9 jobs in the region and generating $7.4 billion in visitor spending last year. In times of economic distress and uncertainty, these businesses often get hit the hardest, which is why it is more essential now than ever to support them in any way possible.
